- סַלְפִּיתָא f. salpitha, name of a species of fish. Y.Ab. Zar. II, end, 42a אחוי ליה הדא ס׳ he showed him the eggs of a salpitha; (Var. קַלְפִּיתָא, קְלִיפְתָּא, v. Tosaf. to Bab. ib. 40a; Asheri to Ab. Zar. II, end סְלוּפְתָּא).
